Lewis Fights in Court
1st Technologies is not willing to give up the fight against the online casino
poker company Bodog Entertainment that is now becoming increasingly volatile and
has turned into personal attacks and name-calling. Dr. Scott Lewis is a
representative for 1st Technologies and after winning the Bodog domain names
from a Washington enforcement court as a way to recoup the $45 million in patent
dispute settlement, Lewis is now pursuing other ways to force Bodog to pay up.
Calvin Ayre, the CEO and founder of Bodog is having no part of the lawsuit
though and is getting increasingly angry at Lewis as he presses forward in a new
lawsuit.
1st Technologies has now begun to subpoena all of the advertising and marketing
affiliates of Bodog. Basically 1st Technologies is looking into the nature of
all of their relationships to the company. This move has infuriated Ayre, who
has increased the personal attack on Lewis and has noted on his blog that he
plans to release personal information (obtained through a hired Personal
Investigator) if Lewis continues to subpoena Bodog’s online casinos affiliated
companies.
1st Technologies on the other hand doesn’t seem very phased and is continuing
forward. Lewis released a statement to the online casinos gambling community as
a whole through the Gambling 911 information site. He remarked, "We would like
to offer a reward to those supplying us voluntarily, before having to resort to
a subpoena, with legally obtained documents, emails, bank account numbers, etc.
that involve Bodog Entertainment Group S.A. in relation to online gaming
activities, or who have valid claims against Bodog Entertainment Group S.A."
Lewis’ appeal to for companies to come forward with information may actually
work for some of the online casinso related companies that do not want to be
dragged into the middle of this nasty patent dispute. At this point though, only
time will tell who’s tactic is most effective: court action or threats of
personal skeletons released to the media. |
