Surprising Late Night Winner
The results are in for the latest of the big televised poker competitions and in
a surprising outcome, the winner turned out to be an online casinos poker
qualifier rather than one of the site’ many poker professionals. The final table
of the event was a roundup of the top poker gambling professionals in the
industry, but it turns out that Andreas Jörbeck took home the top prize after
facing off head-to-head with Roland de Wolfe – and WPT and EPT champion. There
is no doubting that the land and online casinos gambling industries were
surprised by Andreas’ win – he is a relatively unknown Swedish player who really
spends his time on the moderately priced poker tables.
PartyPoker’s Late Night Poker 2008 was televised by Presentable, a company based
out of Cardiff and the televised event featured the entirety of the competition,
right down to the heated last moments of the online casinos poker tournament
competition. As for the outcome of the tournament, even while most of the
competitors were surprised by the win, final competitor de Wolfe was gracious in
his losing – after all there are more land and online casinos tournaments in the
coming months.
Perhaps no one though in the online casinos gambling tournament was as surprised
as Andreas – but he’s not letting it go to his head, instead he plans to take a
reasonable approach toward his portion of the $335,000 prize pool. He remarks,
"I am not a big player so have no huge plans on the horizon, poker is just a
hobby. I will use some of my prize money on a bankroll but will invest the
majority in stocks and shares. My strategy throughout the tournament was to sit
back, keep out of trouble and loosen up and try and relax when we were
shorthanded. If possible, I would get others to do the dirty work for me and get
involved in lots of hands. I was so surprised to even get through my heat
considering I was up against the likes of the Devilfish and Joe Beevers."
Interestingly, Andreas was the only non-professional poker player at the final
table, and the only won of the online casinos event qualifiers to make it even
remotely far in the Late Night Poker event. More information on just how those
final moments at the poker table ended the event can be found on the PartyPoker
site. |
