Criminals Hit the Online Casinos Players
Phishing is nothing new – but it may feel like phishing is become more and more
common on the internet, and that may very well be true. The Symantec Corporation
just released information that phishing is currently a major concern for the
online casinos industry because there are currently criminals specifically
targeting players at the smaller gambling sites. Symantec is one of the larger
internet security software companies on the market, and as more and more online
casinos gamblers get their information phished, Symantec has traced the activity
to a handful of unnamed gambling sites that are run out of both Antigua and the
Dutch Antilles.
The Symantec Corporation operates under the Norton brand name and sells some of
the most popular software on the market that is designed to protect personal and
business computers from viruses, Trojans, spyware and any other malicious
software that users may encounter in through using the internet. Phishing though
is something that is harder to control because the criminals do not place
information onto a personal computer, but rather direct online casinos players
to misleading Web sites and request password and login information.
Symatec has issued a warning to online casinos gamblers who may use the smaller
gambling sites to both be alert and use caution when following links to enter
any sort of bank account information, login information, or any personal
information in general. The criminals perpetrating these phishing attacks are
extremely hard to pin down because they are generally operating the phishing
from a different country or even region. |
