Anti-Fraud for Online Casinos Players
As the internet gambling community becomes an increasingly large target for
fraudulent and criminal activity, the internet gambling companies are constantly
updating technology as a way to combat the fraudulent activity. Community
anti-fraud companies are the latest fad for the online casinos gambling industry
– these companies pool data between the internet gambling companies so that they
all benefit from a shared database of information and fraudulent activity. Now
though, protection is going a step further – right to the online casinos players
- phishing and other forms of identity theft are becoming quite frequent in the
internet gambling industry. This is where new “player DNA” software comes into
effect – new software can actually identify when someone other than the player
is gambling on an account.
The new software is still in the development phase and not quite ready to be
rolled out at the online casinos, but the researchers and scientists predict
that once it begins to be used to protect player accounts, the software will
greatly reduce the amount of account information and player identity theft that
occurs in the internet gambling industry.
This new software and technology was reviewed in the New Scientist Tech
publication and featured details on how effective the software will be and which
players can expect to benefit most from this new innovative technology.
Basically, the software is designed to analyze player poker betting and gambling
patterns over a period time to create what is then referred to as the “player
DNA.” At that point, the software continues to monitor the online casinos
players gambling and if the betting patterns do not match up with the “player
DNA,” then the account is flagged for further investigation.
Criminals and fraudsters who phish for passwords and other information then
login into an online casino player’s account and drain the funds. The software
is 80 percent effective in catching alterations in betting and gambling behavior
after about one hour of play. The research though points out that while the
software will be effective for the middle-ground of online gamblers, poker
professionals have less predictable playing patterns and it will be therefore
harder to create a consistent player DNA.
