Rumors About William Hill
It looks like sportsbetting fans are about to get another choice in the online
sportsbetting industry, and sooner than previously assumed. William Hill is a
huge name in the land betting industry and also has online casinos, poker, and
bingo operations. Last year the company announced plans to develop an in-house
sportsbetting platform that would allow bettors to use an online platform to
place sporting bets through the company. Now rumors abound that the in-house
platform plans have been scratched, and that William Hill is looking into a deal
with Orbis to provide the company with an online casino sportsbetting platform.
The reports on the impending deal are coming from eGaming Review and are at this
point completely unconfirmed as neither of the company’s allegedly involved in
the deal will confirm or deny the reports.
Most in the online casinos industry believe that there is truth in the rumors
because William Hill announced definite plans last year to move into the
sportsbetting industry. And after initial developments on a sportsbetting
platform, an independent review of the company’s technology is rumored to have
concluded that the company should also outsource its sportsbetting platform.
Sportsbetting is the only sector of William Hill that would have had proprietary
software, and now it looks like Orbis could step in and provide an established
and respected platform for the company.
If William Hill does decide to go with Orbis, or even another online casinos
sportsbetting provider, it will mean large restructuring costs for the company. |
