Biggest Poker Cheat in History Resolved
The Absolute Poker cheating scandal rocked the internet poker industry because
it was the largest scale cheat that has yet occurred at any online casinos or
internet gambling sites in the history of internet gambling. The cheating
scandal came to light in September of 2007 and has led to both speculation about
other tournaments at Absolute, and has led to an increasing distrust in poker
played at the online casinos. Absolute Poker, though not quick to admit that the
cheat had happened, did finally acknowledge that an employee had breached the
system through an upgrade at the internet poker site. At that point, the
Kahnawake Gaming Commission stepped into the investigation and brought in an
outside organization to come up with a detailed report about the cheat.
The Kahnawake Gaming Commission (KGC) hired Gaming Associates to come into the
investigation as a way to lend credibility to Absolute Poker once again.
Absolute Poker was previously well respected in the online casinos gambling and
poker industry, and the KGC is hoping that the results of the independent Gaming
Associates report restore confidence in the online casinos poker site.
Gaming Associates has spent months looking into the Absolute Poker cheat and the
KGC announced that the company has now submitted a final report on the issue.
Now that the final report is in, the Commission will take about two weeks to
review the report and make any decisions after that. Some in online casinos
industry are concerned that the Absolute Poker employee who instigated the
hundred thousand dollar cheat was given no criminal charges, and the Commission
will review that decision once the it reviews the Gaming Associates report. |
