What the Commission Found
Now that the Kahnawake Gaming Commission has ruled in the Absolute Poker online
casinos poker cheating scandal, players were able to learn some of the details
of the cheat which were released with the Commission’s announcement of the
penalties that Absolute will face for the cheat. Though there was certainly some
key information missing from the report that online casinos players were able to
view, it seems that previous information and speculations have been officially
confirmed.
A key part of the report that the KGC released are the statements that indicate
that Absolute Poker as a company, and the directors of the company were not
involved nor had knowledge of the online casinos poker cheat. Notably, "there is
no evidence to indicate that the impugned activities were initiated or
sanctioned by AP…or were intended to benefit AP, as a corporate entity." The
KGC’s statement clearly stated that “Gaming Associates found no evidence that AP
as a corporate entity was involved in the cheating either at director or
"principal ownership" level.” As internet gamblers have many choices as far as
poker gambling sites are concerned, it is certainly vindicating for the company
to reaffirm that it was an isolated incident and not a company wide cheat.
Other more specific findings from the Gaming Associates report went on to note
that some entry logs associated with the online casinos poker cheat were deleted
from company records, but they recoverable and though it slowed the
investigation, it was not irreversible. The report also stated that Absolute
Poker has taken adequate measures to ensure that those affected by the poker
cheat were properly compensated.
