KGC Announces Gaming Associates Report
The Kahnawake Gaming Commission has announced its decision concerning the
Absolute Poker online casinos scandal. Last year Absolute Poker was involved in
one of the largest internet poker cheats in the history of the industry, and
since then the company has waited on a judgment from the Gaming Commission
concerning the cheating allegations. The Commission though was not quick to rule
on the case because so much of the cheating scandal needed to be investigated by
an impartial third party – in this case the Gaming Commission hired Gaming
Associates to investigate the online casinos poker company and once finished
present the Commission with a comprehensive report covering the cheat.
As previously reported, Gaming Associates finished their report earlier this
year and submitted the comprehensive analysis of the online casinos cheating
scandal to the Commission for review and a decision on penalties and future
action. The Commission took the time to review the report and make a judgment on
the fines that the company must pay, in addition to programs and policies that
must be in place at the online casinos poker site.
Specifically, the online casinos site was fined for US $500,000 and must pay
that fine within 60 days. In addition to the fine, the company is financially
responsible for the cost of the investigation into the cheating scandal by
Gaming Associates. And that’s not where the penalties stop. The Commission ruled
that Absolute Poker should have more precautionary measures in place, such as
the Continuance Compliance program. In addition, Absolute is financially
responsible for placing a set amount of money (not disclosed) in a fund that
will allow the Commission to randomly audit Absolute over the next two years. |
