Multi-Accounting at Online Poker Sites
As far as cheating at the online casinos and poker sites goes, the internet
gambling companies can only go so far to cut down on the illegal activities, but
in the end some players will always find a way to cheat the system – at least
for a short time. This is the case with multi-accounting, players register at
one internet gambling or poker site with multiple player names and multiple
accounts. Not only is this unfair to the other players, but it is illegal at
many internet gambling and poker sites because is opens the door for players to
use multiple accounts to cheat at the poker tables.
A recent case at two popular online casinos poker sites illustrates why
multi-accounting can be an effective way to cheat the system – at least until
the players get caught. An underage gambler, JJProdigy, use multi-accounting as
a way to continue playing once he would get banned from online casinos and poker
sites for being both underage, and for generally poor behavior at the online
poker rooms.
Eventually the internet gambling sites do catch up with mult-accounters, and at
that point the consequences can be pretty severe. In addition to getting banned
from the online casinos and poker site, the player gets his account balances in
all of the accounts confiscated. This situation happened to player JJProdigy
(although he went by several other names, he is best known under this player
name). He multi-accounted continually at PokerStars and PartyPoker until just
last month when he acknowledged that what he was doing was wrong and apologized
to the whole of the internet gambling industry.
JJProdigy commented on the situation, “I betrayed a community I cared so much
about all for selfish reasons. It shames me to think about it. I did it for so
long, and I never had the courage to quit and admit what I was doing was wrong."
