Spam is Just Out of Control
The internet is a freeing medium – individuals are able to communicate like
never before, they can even shop through the internet and gamble at the online
casinos. But like anything all of that freedom comes with a price. Spam and
viruses are a major threat to many internet users because of the sheer volume of
spam that is sent to email addresses along with an increasing level of dangerous
Trojans, worms, and viruses sent through email. Many personal computers are
simply not adequately covered with protective software capable of combating the
numerous types of spam and malicious threats. Online casinos gamblers should
also be concerned because although spam related to internet gambling companies
is low, the industry still contributed to 3.4 percent of the world-wide spamming
figures.
And though 3.4 percent may not seem like a lot of spam, as online casinos and
internet users are aware – spam email is increasing at alarming rates. Websense
Security Labratories uses ThreatSeeker software to track spam levels worldwide
and the spam figures for the second half of 207 were quite simply absurd.
According to Websense, 87 percent of the email messages sent worldwide were spam
messages.
Then consider that many of the spam messages contain malicious worms, bots,
Trojans and other threats, and online casinos players should increase their
computer security software and certainly beware of suspicious emails. The
internet is both a liberating medium and one that brings a whole new set of
threats right into our homes and to our personal computers. |
