Affiliates Feel Slighted
A new marketing program in France launched by the Unibet online casinos betting
company is causing some concerns with the company’s affiliates. Unibet cut the
amount that the company pays to affiliates because of anticipated response from
the advertising campaign. Unibet anticipated that the new marketing would
generate a large amount of new business for the company, so it cut affiliate
commissions by as much as 50 percent.
The online casinos industry is certainly a tough industry, but affiliates for
Unibet were not informed that Unibet even had plans to cut commissions, so the
announcement last week took many by surprise. Unibet is working on growing the
company’s online casinos sportsbetting reputation within France and used a
targeted media initiative to drive new gamblers and bettors to the site.
Though the concern from affiliates has grown to gamblers even outside of the
French online casinos sportsbetting industry because of the nature of the
internet and blogging, Unibet is supporting the decision to temporarily reduce
commissions.
Unibet views the reduction in commission as a natural result of the company’s
decision to find new online casinos sportsbetting customers in a new medium
outside of the traditional affiliate program. The reduction in affiliate
commissions lasted a mere four days and was not intended to act as a penalty to
affiliates but rather a sound business strategy.
The French affiliates affected by the change in affiliate commissions are not as
willing to overlook the four day cut in commission payouts although there really
isn’t any recourse that the affiliates can engage in other than negatively
blogging about Unibet. |
