A Future for Online Lotteries?

The lottery system is certainly a secondary source of competition for the online casinos and internet gambling industries, but not to the extent that many companies are willing to do something about the competition. That could all be changing though as a lottery company has announced plans to redesign and further establish a Web presence for lottery players – and this new internet presence could certainly have an effect on online casinos and other forms if e-gambling.

The Atlantic Lottery Corp. has apparently sought out new gaming advice concerning the current online lottery games that are available to players on the ALC Web site. The ALC plans to still offer the same lottery style games that are in line with the company’s gaming license, but that doesn’t meant that the site wont add a gaming site better gaming graphics and technology.

A spokesperson for the ALC commented that the company is not planning to completely overhaul the entire plan, but rather “this potentially could lead to refreshing the products that exist. There might be new and exciting things that could replace what’s there or we could add to it. But at this point we’re looking to see what’s out there.”

So though the company hasn’t even remotely suggested it is adding new online casinos and video game style lottery games, it’s pretty evident that gamblers who use the company’s online games could have some new choices in the near future.
