Surpassing Vegas Soon
Las Vegas, Nevada has some stiff competition when it comes to the land gambling
industry – something that was not even a concern a decade ago. Macau has grown a
land casino gambling industry to rival Vegas in just a number of years and
thanks to a huge surge in tourism to the small island. Macau’s 27 land casinos’
gambling revenue has now surpassed Las Vegas and prediction from land and online
casinos gambling analysts indicates that it could surpass the entire state of
Nevada in the coming years.
The Asian region is a hotspot for both the land and online casinos industry
because of the extreme growth potential in the region. As for Macau, the small
island has become an increasingly become international draw for gamblers looking
for destination land gambling – an area of the market that Las Vegas had
definitely cornered before Macau built dozens of resorts casinos and cultivated
a strong land gambling industry.
And though non-Chinese land and online casinos gamblers account for nearly half
of the 2007 gamblers visiting Macau, it is the 15 million Chinese visitors (out
of 27 million total visitors) that have given Macau such strong growth figures.
Beyond just the surge in land gambling, many analysts speculate that the
emerging online casinos gambling industry in the region could greatly enhance
the already booming Macau gambling industry. All in all, Macau is proving highly
successful but worrisome for the American casino gambling industry. As Macau
continues to grow analysts predict that Las Vegas will feel the effects of some
serious competition in the industry. |
