Arem Recounts Conversation
Last August one of the largest cheating scandals in the history of online
casinos gambling was uncovered largely thanks to Nat Arem, he proved pivotal in
initial investigations into the poker cheating scandal. According to Arem and
several others involved in the internet gambling industry, 60 Minutes is
planning to air an exposé largely dedicated to the Absolute Poker cheating
scandal and now the alleged UltimateBet.com cheating scandal. Arem has noted on
his blog though that “this story is unlikely to be a good thing for online poker
on the whole,” primarily because programs like 60 Minutes present a biased look
at the situation aiming to portray online casinos gambling in a negative light.
Arem though is looking for ways to set the record straight.
Although Arem has known about 60 Minute’s intention to investigate the online
casinos poker gambling scandal fore more than a month, he maintain requested
silence on the project until the new broke at various news organizations and
sites. At that point Arem used his personal blog to not only give more details
on what he knows about the exposé, but to also voice his opinion on how 60
Minutes will portray the online casinos gambling industry in the program – he
gets a feeling like the show will be largely negative.
But Arem plans to vindicate online casinos and poker gambling to some extent if
given the opportunity. He notes, "If I do end up on-camera, I will be sure to
explain that this scandal was online poker’s “Enron” — i.e., the biggest and
worst scandal in the history of the industry. It is not a commonplace occurrence
and people should not take it as such.” Arem’s blog also goes on to note that he
hopes the 60 Minutes program, if it does actually get shot and air, will
highlight the fact that sites like PokerStars.com and other online gambling
sites are impeccably run and are exceedingly safe gambling sites.
