Betting Consolidation: Betfair
Betfair announced just this week that the company will begin to offer the
existing Tasmania Tote gambling platform as well as assimilating the company’s
current account holders onto the Betfair international betting platform. The
deal is right in line with BetFair’s 2008 goals and strategies to enter and
expand into new markets, and a double benefit is the ability to use Tote’s
existing bettors and betting products to boost and strengthen the company’s
brand identity.
The deal is not as much of a consolidation as it is a mutually beneficial deal
between the two online casinos betting related companies that will boost profits
and visibility at bnoth companies. The Business Director Betfair, Andrew Thwaits,
commented on the specifics of the financial end of the online casinos gambling
deal. Thwaits comments, “For every dollar that is bet through the TOTE Tasmania
interface on Betfair, money is returned to both the Tasmanian industry and via
the participation fee that TOTE Tasmania pays to Tabcorp for being a part of the
SuperTAB pool, and a share of that revenue goes directly to Tabcorp as well.''
Thwaits also elaborated on the new ease for existing Tote online casinos
gamblers and bettors, ''There will be a single log-in, a single interface and a
single account, so no transferring of funds. The convenience factor that we're
announcing today is compelling.'' The convenience goes both ways, not just for
the Tote account holders, but existing Betfair accounts benefit from more
betting and gambling options within Australian.
BetFair has some stiff competition in the international online casinos betting
industry but the strategic deals and partnerships has consistently proven as a
wise step for companies looking for longevity in a finicky industry that
fluctuates with the constantly changing regulations in countries around the
world.
