Competitive French Regulations
The European Commission is in talks with several EU nations that are in
violation of EU trade policies concerning the free movement of trades and
services related to the online casinos gambling industry. France is one of the
ten nations with protectionist legislation in talks with the Commission
regarding bringing France into compliance. And although the talks have stalled
over the past several months with France, Germany, Greece, and other nations, it
looks as though there could be positive changes in the French government. French
newspapers have released information that the new French president could open
the nation’s online casinos gambling industry to include other EU member-states.
France’s new President seems much more willing to fix the issues surrounding the
nation’s exclusionary and protectionist legislation that is currently supporting
the French gambling monopoly Francaise des Jeux. The Commission has pressured
all of the countries that are in violation to alter discriminatory policy or
they will face a referral to the European Court of Justice. It looks as though
this could be a turning point for the French online casinos gambling industry
although there are no official communications released from either the
Commission or the French government itself.
The French press are alluding to the fact that the new President Sarkozy could
significantly liberalize the online casinos gambling industry and open up the
market to a much more competitive environment. The Commission is adamant that
the nations with protectionist legislation begin the steps to pass new
legislation that is in compliance with EU policies, and that is where France is
at right now – in the initial stages of passing new laws to open the nation’s
online gambling industry. |
