Aussies Help Problem Online Casino Gamblers
Australia’s land and online casinos gambling industry has grown significantly
over the past several years and the state governments are actually forced to
play catch-up with the expansions in the industry. With international concern
growing about the exploitation of problem gamblers, the Victorian Prime Minister
has announced a plan to alter all of the regions land poker gambling machines so
that players can have control over the amount on time and money spent gambling.
The new restrictions will take fully take effect in 2010 and will greatly help
the Victorian government protect problem land and online casino gamblers.
Just last week eCOGRA and GamCare hosted a weekend intensive dedicated to
responsible gambling practices at the management and corporate level. Add to
that the UK’s strict requirements on online casinos gambling practices and it is
very clear that there is a heavy international effort in place to help gamblers
gamble responsibly.
A few of the changes that the Victorian government announced which will occur by
2012 specifically for the land casinos gambling industry (online casinos
gambling is a separate matter altogether) include: self-imposed time limits that
players can choose before they begin to play, self-imposed spending limits, no
ATM machines located in gambling areas, and a gambling warning visible on all of
the poker machines. Victorian Prime Minister John Grumby is hoping to expand the
warning to all forms of gambling machines from slots to poker as well as find
new ways to protect players from addictive and problem gambling tendencies.
The Victorian government is on the leading edge of an international movement to
make land and online casinos gambling safer for the gamblers and to give land
and internet casinos a way to avoid the exploitation of additive gamblers. |
