Tough Break for the Betting Firms
The online casino gambling industry has its seasonal ups and downs that are
associated with and affected by what sports are in season, the holidays, and
other factors – all of these can have a strong affect on the ability of the
internet casinos to turn a decent profit. But that is really nothing compared to
the risk that betting companies take when allowing online casino bettors to
place their arbitrary bets on sporting, snooker matches, and more. The betting
sites were thrown for a loop last week with the outcome of the Malta Cup.
The results of the Malta cup were surprising to say the least and some in the
online casino gambling and betting industries are crying foul. Although most of
the betting sites are investigating the outcome of the Malta Cup that occurred
in late August those sites have also in good faith already paid out winnings to
gamblers who placed a bet on Liang Wenbo. Wenbo was a long shot for the win – he
was listed fortieth in the game and has apparently not played snooker too well
this season. Even more surprising for the online casinos and betting sites is
the fact that the betting patterns of some individuals indicate that there may
be some tampering done with the matches.
Winner Liang was not even close to being a favorite for the win and he managed
to face off against last year’s World Snooker Champion and win. The UK Gambling
Commission is investigating the situation right now by looking at the betting
patterns of gamblers in both the land and online casino betting industry. The
investigation is ongoing right now but what is immediately apparent is the fact
that the betting sites and venues are severely hurting after the huge five and
six figure losses. |
