ASA Hasn't Remarked
The Advertising Standards Agency in the UK certainly upholds its end of the
bargain when one looks at the UK advertising industry as it pertains to the
online casinos and internet gambling companies. The ASA is responsible for
overseeing all of the advertisements and ad campaigns that are released from
gambling companies into the UK marketplace. Questionable ads are then reviewed
by the ASA and the Association uses set criteria to determine if the
advertisement complies with the regulations concerning online casino gambling.
The fact of the matter is that it’s just not as easy as you’d think to determine
if the advertisements will pass through the critical eye of the ASA and the
online gambling industry has reacted quite strongly in regards to some online
casino gambling ads that were banned and found inappropriate by the ASA. Even
highly respected online casino and gambling companies have released
“inappropriate” ads – the last of which was released by Wink Bingo. Wink’s ad
allegedly promoted unhealthy online casino gambling habits.
Wink Bingo pulled the television commercial advertisement when the ASA released
its official ruling on the advertisement but the company was none to happy about
the ruling. Competition is fierce in the online casino bingo gambling market and
Wink Bingo has rebounded from the situation with a new set of advertisements
that depict a kitten in humorous situations – the ASA has made no protestations
on this latest ad campaign. For those interested the banned ad can still be
found on the Wink Bingo gambling site. |
