Registrars Object to Planned Kentucky Legislation
The Poker Players Alliance has spoken out against the impending Kentucky
legislation that is being pushed by the state’s governor. iMEGA has also
publicly objected to the proposed legislation and announced that the group will
send representatives from the Association’s legal team to represent the
interests of the online casinos. And, not surprisingly, a whole lot of domain
registration companies are stepping up and voicing their concerns about the
planned legislation. Godaddy.com has announced that it will also send
representatives to the court hearing to speak on behalf of the domain name
registration companies that have registered the domain names of some of the top
online casino gambling companies in the US and European market.
The internet gambling industry has only been around and functioning for about a
decade so far – this means that there are some definite areas that have not yet
ever been addressed in the courts – the confiscation of foreign domain names is
one of these issues facing the Kentucky courts this week. Godaddy.com is just
one of the registration companies that plans to file an objection to the court
ordered seizure of the domain names. Several of GoDaddy.com’s online casino
gambling companies have contacted GoDaddy.com to express concerns over the
current proceedings.
The full seizure process has not yet begun and many in the online casino
gambling industry anticipate that an appeal to the federal courts will put a
halt to the implementation of the legislation until the federal government can
make a definitive ruling on the case. |
