Outcry from Winners: 1
Change is good in many situations but the latest announcement from Betfair has
been hotly debated in the online casino gambling and betting industry. Bettors
have not greeted the news of new premium charges with kindness – in fact
hostility is a much better word for the new charges. The new premium charges at
the site will not be felt by very many of the company’s loyal online bettors
according to Betfair’s statement. In fact a mere 0.5 percent will be affected by
the new charges according to the company’s statement – but the current outcry
suggests that that 0.5 percent is a very vocal part of the company’s base of
players.
Part of the problem with the announced premium increase comes from the fact that
Betfair touts itself as an online betting company that openly welcomes winners.
But the site’s winners are outraged at the fact that major wins on the Betfair
site are now subject to a fairly hefty premium charge. One outraged winner went
on to note that his premium payments on his winnings would have come in at five
figures had the new policy been in effect over the past few weeks – that is just
unacceptable according to the player. The player went on to remark that the
Betfair online casino gambling group would be forced to change its advertising
campaign to reflect the fact that Betfair winners “get screwed.”
While the mentioned online bettor is an extreme example of the situation at
hand, Betfair’s new policy really has caught the internet casino and betting
industry off guard. |
