Privatizing Online Casinos in France
The European Commission has apparently made some major headway in France if the
recent media headlines are any indication. The Commission has negotiated with
roughly a dozen rogue EU member-states concerning the land and online casino
gambling issue and actively seeks to secure a free and open gambling market
throughout the European Union. The only obstacle standing in the way of this
goal has been the refusal of the nearly 12 EU member states advocating state
gambling monopolies and outright denying foreign online casinos access to their
gambling markets. France is one of the countries however that has headed the
warnings from the Commission that the issue will be referred to the European
Court of Justice if non-compliance continues.
According to recent reports the French online casino gambling monopoly Francaise
des Juex is seeking privatization in the coming months in an effort to comply
with the Commission’s requests for a more open and inclusive French online
gambling market. There is no shortage of internet gambling companies eyeing the
French market hopefully – Betsson is one of several companies that eagerly
awaits the prospect of a legalized market with licensed and regulated online
casinos.
The privatization news is also positive in that once the company is privatized
some analysts speculate that the company will go up for acquisition. The
acquisition of Francaise des Juex would provide one lucky online casino gambling
group with a definite advantage within the French market consider FdJ has
operated as a monopoly over the past several years and has a corner on the
market at this point. |
