Employees on Edge
It is no secret in the online casino gambling industry that Party Gaming has run
into a bit of a rough spot. The company’s internet poker site in particular is
having problems keeping up with the competitors because of the unfair
competition from sites still accepting US players. In reaction to declining
profits and more intense competition from other online casinos, Party Gaming has
announced a new effort that will see the company cutting a huge chunk of staff
from the company’s Gibraltar location. Party Gaming’s Gibraltar operations
unfortunately have some redundant positions and as the company streamlines and
looks at the basic bottom line of staying afloat staff cuts are becoming
necessary.
Party Gaming’s announcement of staff cuts in the coming months means that
staffers at the Gibraltar location are already brimming with anxiety. The online
casino gambling group has not specified any particular positions or really
released any firm information on the layoffs except to note that the company
will spend the next 60 days evaluating the job positions. At that time,
positions that are redundant or unnecessary for the time being will be laid off.
According to the initial estimates the number of staff losing their jobs could
run as high as 320.
The information has not been officially stated from Party Gaming itself, two
prominent newspapers have confirmed the information. The online casino gambling
industry is a tough business and although it is true that other internet
gambling companies have an unfair advantage because of their involvement in the
US gambling market, Party Gaming can only look at their own operations and focus
on continuing to build brand prominence in the European market. |
