Bingo Sites Should Contribute Too: 2
The Responsibility in Gaming Trust (RIGT) has released some new studies
concerning the problem gambling industry that indicate that problem gambling is
on the rise and that the Trust will be looking to some new sectors of the market
to help fund the Trust. RIGT covers problem gambling that happens anywhere in
the UK in any form – this means gambling addictions that stem from the land
casinos, land bingo halls, online casinos, internet bingo gambling sites, poker
sites, and more. Any pastime or activity that results in compulsive gambling is
covered by the Trust.
The last RIGT report indicated that although incidences of problem gambling
stemming from the land and online bingo companies is low, it does occur and
therefore the bingo gaming industry should also pay into the Trust. This is a
bit of a shock for some land bingo halls in the UK that are already struggling
under the UK’s arguably unfair double taxation structure – many bingo gaming
halls are folding and the bingo gamers are heading to the online casinos and
internet bingo sites to get their bingo fix.
RIGT needs the funds that are paid into from the land and online casinos and
gaming sites as a way to really provide the proper resources for problem and
compulsive gamblers in the UK. Some of the resources funded by RIGT include:
telephone support line, social programs to rehabilitate problem gamblers,
research studies on the market and effective therapies and most importantly is
the Trusts dissemination of literature on the subject and attempts to stop
gamblers from developing problem gambling habits before they form. |
