Weighing in from the Critics
You can’t do a whole lot these days in the online casino gambling industry
without bringing on the scorn of some watchdog group or organization that thinks
that internet gambling will bring on the destruction of the human race (though
some are perhaps a bit less melodramatic). But the point is, no matter what
decision a company makes, there are going to be doomsayers and those who think
the idea is terrible. Funny enough, the Church is often on the side of
doomsayers and the Church of England’s reaction this week to the announcement
that Google had reopened the Google Adsense program to online casinos brought
out some stern words from the Church.
The Church of England noted that while the Church was resigned to the fact that
gambling was here to stay, Google’s decision to further assist problem gamblers
in finding an online casino and a way to gamble away their earnings is
reproachable. The Church of England feels like this new policy and the lifting
of the restrictions could mean serious issues facing problem gamblers in the UK.
Already, the Gamcare organization released a report that indicates that more
online casino gamblers than ever before are contacting the company for
assistance with compulsive gambling problems.
The Church tied in the current financial woes facing not only the UK, but the
international economy as another reason why the Church did not have a favorable
opinion on the lifting of the ban. No matter, despite the hullabaloo and
objections, the ban has been lifted and online casino gambling sites are back
into the Adwords program. |
