Rethinking the UK Taxes
The CEO of Global Betting and Gaming Consultants (GBGC), which is based out of
the Isle of Man, continues to support his earlier predictions that the global
online casino gambling industry will continue to grow despite the slowing global
economy – but he did have a few suggestions on ways that the UK gambling market
could alter tax legislation to positively favor those internet gambling
companies that chose to license and operate in the UK. UK based online casinos
and internet gambling companies are subject to a pretty hefty tax on gaming
profits – the only problem though lies in the fact that foreign internet
gambling companies still have access to the UK market yet don’t have to pay the
steep taxes on their gambling revenues.
Some of the online casinos that chose to repatriate back to the UK feel
abandoned by the current tax legislation and are some are actually sinking as a
result of offshore competitors taking UK business from the sites. CEO Warwick
Bartlett contends that the UK government could pull in some serious additional
cash by appealing to offshore online casinos that are currently based and
licensed out of the more favorable offshore gambling jurisdictions.
Additionally, Warwick asserts that the current taxing structure in the UK needs
some serious adjustments as a way to not only entice the offshore online casinos
into the UK market, but to also help those companies that are paying taxes in
the UK for what basically amounts to the right of the internet gambling
companies to advertise in the UK market. |
