It's Safer than Retail Purchases
Despite the fact that online casino gambling companies rarely make it into the
international media for scandals involving loss of players’ personal data, many
gamblers in the UK, and likely throughout the world, perceive transactions with
the internet gambling industry as less safe than transactions with retailers.
This is actually categorically false. The online casinos have extreme safety
measures in place, include advanced software for age verification purposes that
is in place to protect underage gamblers from accessing the market. The age and
identity verification software used by the internet casinos is often far more
advanced than the software used by the world’s largest internet retailers.
The results of a UK study were published just this past month that looked UK
consumers’ perceptions of the safety of their personal information. The study
showed that the online casino gambling industry was ranked below a number of
industries that actually have more lax standards when it comes to protecting
consumer data. Online retail companies in particular largely less effective
technology in place than the internet casinos. And because this is the case yet
the consumers are unaware of the differences between making a transaction at an
internet gambling site versus making transaction with small internet retailers,
the internet gambling industry is looking at campaigns and advertising efforts
that could better educate the public.
The Chief Executive at the GB Group, Richard Law, summed up the situation the
best. He commented, “These results show a real need for gaming businesses to
shout much more loudly about the strong stance they have taken on issues of
social responsibility such as preventing underage gambling.” Likely as not, some
of the online casino gambling companies with advanced age verification and
identification software in place will begin to advertise the fact. |
