Profile of an Italian Poker Player
The Italian online casino and poker gambling industry is the hot topic of the
month as companies with licensees to offer internet gambling services in the
country begin to choose some of the major software development companies for
their gaming platforms. The Italian government began to liberalize the market
just in the past couple of years – firs with the regulation and licensing of
online betting companies and now with the trend toward internet poker gambling.
Full on online casinos are still a bit sketchy and have are not fully operating
in the Italian market, but recent statistical studies within the Italian market
show a huge trend toward internet poker.
A report from Ipsos and the StageUp Sport and Leisure business released some
statistics that not only show the increase of online poker gambling activities
in the country, but the report also gives a detailed analysis of the profile of
internet poker players in Italy. The results are less than surprising and pretty
much fall in with the global stats on internet poker gamblers. Unlike the online
casinos, internet poker gambling attracts males living in the South of Italy.
Additionally, the men are typically under 24 and live in bigger cities.
This demographic is largely similar to the demographic of online casino poker
players throughout the rest of Europe. The only difference being the fact that
internet poker is a relative new addition to the e-gaming lineup in Italy.
Industry analysts predict that the demographic of gamblers turning to the online
poker tables will widen as internet poker expands throughout Italy and the sites
begin to compete and offer special promotions. |
