Putting a Stop to Irregularities
Cheating seems to be the theme of the day at GambleCraft today as we look at the
investigations launched into the alleged UEFA irregular betting patterns.
Bettors at online casinos and betting sites all over the world were affected by
the questionable results of 25 UEFA Cup matches throughout last season. The
officials within the UEFA are committed to not only putting a stop to any
possible corruption in the matches but to resolving the current irregularities
with a full-fledged investigation. The UEFA’s Executive Committee met last week
in France to discuss the irregular betting patterns and to determine a course of
action for the time being and to keep the faith in future matches.
The whole problem with the situation is that corruption within the sporting
industry can have a seriously negative effect on the online casinos and betting
shops that take bets on the events – after all no one wants to be on the losing
end of a fixed match. Add to that the fact that those involved are
understandably tight-lipped about the entire situation and you have a sticky
situation with little way toward clear resolution – and you have a very confused
viewing and betting public that are hesitant to risk their money at the online
casinos and land betting shops.
The UEFA meeting though provided at least a modicum of assurance for the online
casino gambling and betting companies as well as the bettors – additional
oversight is planned for the coming football season. And in the future the UEFA
Committee noted that well qualified analysts would already be on hand to address
and investigate irregular betting patterns. |
