Don't Do it There
Online casino gambling is illegal in parts of the world and in the countries
that have banned and blocked internet gambling – beware that there are some
weighty consequences for those individuals breaking the law. The Malaysian
government has some very specific bans in place in relation to the online casino
gambling industry in the country. But with the spread of online casinos all
throughout the world, some internet café owners and operators chose to risk
themselves and their business by offering individuals access to the internet
gambling sites. The latest news out of Malaysia indicates that 12 individuals
have been arrested for operating illegal gambling business out of internet
cafes.
The Malaysian government raided some very specific online casino gambling cafes
that have been associated with the internet gambling industry. The internet
cafes licensed to offer internet access in Malaysia are specifically forbidden
from offering online casino gambling to the Malaysian residents. Those operators
choosing to operate internet gambling broke their license and are therefore
under arrest for not only violating their license, but for also offering illegal
access to the internet gambling sites.
The arrest should act as a warning to any other internet café operators offering
access to the online casinos – the pastime is illegal and not welcome in
Malaysia. Those involved in the illegal industry are now looking at jail time as
the least of their worries. Interestingly, all of those arrested this time are
in their twenties and thirties – the internet savvy generation. |
