The Seal Works
Either the online casino gambling industry is getting safer all on its own
accord, or the efforts by player advocacy groups to safeguard the industry are
actually proving effective. eCOGRA is one of the top player advocacy
organizations in the world, providing qualifying online casinos with a “Fair and
Safe” seal of approval indicating that the site meets eCOGRA’s high standards.
New reports from eCOGRA indicate that online gambling players are filing fewer
complaints with the organization about internet gambling sites operating with
the “Fair and Safe” seal.
eCOGRA actively accredits online casinos operating in gambling markets all over
the world – and beyond just the initial accreditation process, gambling sites
with the seal of approval are regularly checked by eCOGRA to ensure that the
companies conform to eCOGRA’s high standards. The recent Dispute Report released
by eCOGRA indicates that the company’s efforts are in fact effective in reducing
the number of player complaints. The first quarter dispute report showed that
the number of disputes against accredited online casinos was siginificantly less
than the average number of quarterly complaint in 2007.
Specifically, the Q1 report indicated eCOGRA received 171 dispute mediation
requests from online casino gamblers; the 2007 quarterly average came in at 191.
Additionally, the Q1 report shows that 27 of the mediation request for the
quarter concerned online gambling sites that did not carry the “Fair and Safe”
seal. The main source of the disputes concerned “false bonus abuse complaints
lodged by fraudulent players,” comments eCOGRA’s Fari Gaming Advocate, Tex Rees.
In addition to bonus disputes, online gamblers locked account problems were also
a major complaint factor. eCOGRA free offers mediation services to any players
with a complaint against a “Fair and Safe” accredited gambling site. |
