Land Poker is Illegal Too
Not only is online casinos gambling illegal in the United States, but for some
players land poker tournaments are equally in the danger territory. In fact,
land poker gambling is legal is South Carolina at designated areas, but a dozen
or so residents of the state are learning that the home poker tourneys are not
exactly legal on a large scale. In fact, better that the gamblers were caught
online casinos gambling which carries no punishment for the at-home gamblers
than the troubles that several South Carolina gamblers could face in the courts.
The latest news on the several arrested in the land poker gambling raids that
turned up a complex poker gambling situation at multiple locations and allegedly
involving paid dealers and the such is that those accused could see a jury
acquittal in the case. The issue of card and dice games is questionable in South
Carolina at this time. Along with online casinos gambling, home card games are
currently on the taboo list although new legislation could legalize home-based
games in the coming year.
That new legislation though neither affects the online casinos, nor the gamblers
who are facing charges from the authorities for operating an land home poker
gambling ring. Unlike the jury, the South Carolinian authorities are looking to
push the issue into either fines, jail time, probation, or some sort of
punishment that would deter others from operating similar poker gambling type
rings. What is really interesting about the case is that several of those
accused in this case either public officials of some sort. Included in those
facing prosecution include a police officer and a state deputy prosecutor.
