KidPoker and the PPA
Daniel Negreanu, nicknamed “KidPoker,” has offered his support to the Poker
Players Alliance, a U.S. interest group looking to re-legalize online poker in
the United States. The 2006 UIGEA legislation stopped the majority of the online
casinos and poker sites from accepting U.S. players – now there are only a
handful of sites that offer internet poker gambling to American players. The PPA
reached the one million member mark just last month and is hoping to grow that
number even further with the support of land and online casino poker profession
Negreanu.
Negreanu has teamed up with the PPA to offer PPA members exclusive tips and
advice straight from Negreanu – and on a weekly basis to boot. Online casino
poker players in the U.S. already registered with the PPA can "simply opt-in and
Daniel's always insightful and often humorous poker advice will be delivered by
e-mail every week," observes PPA Executive Director Jon Pappas.
The PPA is currently lobbying Congress to either neutralize the UIGEA or at
least provide carve-outs in the current legislation that allows forms of online
poker. PPA lobbyists assert that internet poker is a skill based game and should
therefore be exempt from the U.S. restrictions on the games of chance prevalent
at online casinos. The new deal with Negreanu is hoped to entice even more
internet poker enthusiasts to the organization; as membership in the PPA grows
the organization has more power to sway Congressmen and women to support its
cause. Negreanu is actively involved in the international poker gambling
industry and has the ability to bring the PPA the needed support and attention
from the global poker community. |
