A Whole Lotta Hullabaloo

The Morrocan online casinos gambling and gaming community is wary now about celebrity usernames after a case that involved the Facebook social networking site. Using false usernames is a fairly common practice in most of Europe, Mexico, the United States, and other regions with internet gaming and social networking sites. But the recent Facebook case that went to trial and resulted in a three year jail sentence for Fouad Mourtada is making some online casinos gambling type sites concerned that this is a new trend for the Moroccan internet community. BackgammonMasters.com is a popular gaming choice for many Moroccan gamblers, but using a false or celebrity name at the site is probably not a recommended course of action.

A Backgammon Masters spokesperson commented on the new issues involve usernames and screen names of online casinos poker gamblers, “We’ve seen a trend in the industry for people to register popular names, ‘gold usernames’ as we call them, such as backgammonking, pokerking, blackjack-king and celebrity names that are just as popular.” The Backgammon Masters online casino gambling site also operates a site for the Mexican market, and within that market the site also found a slew of false celebrity names.

The Backgammon Masters site has expressed a growing concern over the issue. After all, the Facebook case involved Mourtada using the Moroccan Prince’s name, Moulay Rachid – which is what really caused the concerns. But perhaps there is a bit of sensationalism in the case…online casinos companies all over the world report that the practice is popular, so is it really a growing concern or just a quirk of the growing Internet community?
