Harrah's Delays WSOP Event
The most followed land poker gambling tournament in the world, the Las Vegas
World Series of Poker (WSOP) will take place over a very extended period of time
this year. The elongated event is designed to build anticipation over a longer
period of time. This year’s WSOP will feature land and online casinos poker
gambling professionals from all over the world hoping to walk away with a
winning bracelet from the event - and some huge cash winnings as well. The time
between the Main Event and the Final Table of the WSOP is longer than ever
before, but the event organizers are sure that this will only add to the
excitement for the land and online casinos players and viewers.
Viewers all over the United States (and other countries as well) will have the
chance to watch the Main Event on July 3 live on ESPN… and then they can come
back months later for the Final Table showdown between whatever land and online
casinos gambling pros have made it that far. Jeffery Pollack, the Commissioner
for the WSOP, remarked on why the structure of the event had been changed this
year after a dozen successful years in the previous format, “Our goal is to
create a greater sense of anticipation for the outcome of the final table.”
The impetus for the change apparently came out of the way that other popular
sporting events are arranged – now just modified to fit the land and online
casinos industry. Pollack comments, We want as many people around the world as
possible to be asking 'Who will win?' and the best way to do that is to make the
decision we've made. If there's more buzz and water-cooler talk, just as there
would be around the Super Bowl, the NBA Finals, or the Daytona 500, then we've
done a great thing for the game of poker."
The Final Table event takes place on November 11th, and the event coordinators
anticipate that the new format will draw in more land and online casinos viewers
than ever before. |
