A Blasè Kyl
There isn’t a lot going on in the U.S. online casinos gambling industry that
cannot be directly linked back to Arizona Senator Jon Kyl. Kyl was primarily
responsible for the highly controversial 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling
Enforcement Act (UIGEA) and pushed the unpopular Act through Congress attached
to a must-pass Safe Port Act. This inauspicious beginning has only led to more
than a year of online casinos gambling problems for the U.S. in the
international arena as other countries. And while many politicians begin to
express concern over the current state of U.S. online gambling, Senator Kyl is
now back into the public forum with a blasé dismissal of all of the current
attempts to block internet gambling activities.
Kyl recently commented on the current bill in Congress that would block the U.S.
government from ever finishing the controversial online casinos gambling
regulations that are needed for the UIGEA to have any means of enforcement. Kyl
commented on the stalled regulations, "The longer it goes the less certainty
there is," said the Senator. "I mean, the people who are violating the law need
to know that they're not going to be able the get away with it, and I think that
the failure to get these regulations promulgated on time has perhaps given some
hope, and it's given life even to an idea over in the House of Representatives
to put a moratorium on the regulations."
Kyl at this point is almost arrogantly confident that Congressman Barney Frank
and others will not have the support in the House of Representatives to
overthrow the UIGEA and his ineffective online casinos gambling regulations.
