The Svenske Spel internet gambling monopoly in Sweden is highly successful, and even more so, the company is lucrative for the Swedish government. For that reason, the Swedish government has failed to comply with recent European Commission negotiations and warning about the country’s monopolistic online casinos gambling policies. In a recent development though, considering the stalemate of recent months with the Commission, it seems that some in the Swedish government, and even on the Board of Directors at Svenske Spel are looking toward compliance as the future of the nation’s online casinos gambling industry.

Svenske Spel’s newest Board Member is moving the company in a new direction despite the protests from the executive members of the online casinos gambling company. At this point, not only has the former CEO of the company, Jesper Karrbrink, resigned from his position, but several other high level executives have also decided to leave the company because of issues with the new direction. Margareta Winberg, the new head of the Board, is looking to change the company’s focus from a currently very marketing heavy, advertising centered approach to gaining online casinos gamblers to instead operating from a position of increasing responsible gambling initiatives.

Unfortunately for the state-run online casinos gambling monopoly, many of the company’s former employees did not welcome the change and instead have resigned from their jobs. Some who left the company noted that it wasn’t just that the company was heading in a new direction, but rather the fact that the Swedish government was becoming more actively involved in monitoring the company’s activities and business practices.
