Land Casinos Pull In Business
Macau is shaping up to rival Las Vegas as a top destination for destination
gambling. Like Las Vegas, Macau is made up of more than 29 casinos and resort
casino hotels. But something that Macau has that Las Vegas might lack for some
is the tourist destination aspect of the small island. Located near China, the
island is able to pull in tourists looking for an exotic location coupled with
land casinos gambling. Asia is one of the fastest growing regions for both land
and online casinos gambling as more Asian governments are considering opening
their country to internet-based gambling activities.
As for Macau, the land casinos industry on the island pulled in roughly US $10.3
billion in gambling revenues. And with a booming gambling industry and an
increase in tourists and gamblers visiting the island, Macau has more job
openings than ever before as well. In fact, because this is the land gambling
industry rather than online casinos gambling, a surge in gamblers visiting the
casinos directly translates into more job openings. Macau actually has more than
enough job vacancies at this point, the industry reported 3,411 vacant posts.
The employment statistics are just going through the roof as Macau expands its
land gambling and betting offerings. According the 2007 employment stats,
employment on the island increased 22.9 percent – that is an astronomical
increase and can be attributed to the fact that the island has a relatively
small resident population – just 538,000. These residents though have embraced
the land gambling industry and may even move into offering online casinos
gambling in the future if it becomes a popular activity in China and other parts
of Asia, but for now, the small island is doing well. |
