Thai Online Casino Gambling Doesn't Pay
There are certain areas of the world where it just doesn’t pay to operate land
and online casinos gambling and bookmaking services, and Thailand is fast
becoming tops on that list. The Thai authorities have really begun to crack down
on criminal gambling activities in the country – the latest arrest of a grocery
store owner is a testament to the increasing numbers of dangers associated with
illegal gambling and betting circles. Arrests in Malaysia and Turkey are also
adding to concerns in the international online casinos industry. More and more
governments are taking their anti-gambling legislation seriously and see
criminals as a growing threat.
The Thai case doesn’t specifically involve online casino gambling, but rather
refers to a land betting operation that the Thai police were investigating. It
turns out that Tanatorn Champathong was operating sports betting out of the
grocery stores computer. The 2008 European Football Championships are underway
right now in Europe, but all sports enthusiasts from all over the world are
interested in the outcome of the match. Some governments have very effective
blocks in place that prevent gamblers from accessing the online casinos and
internet bookmakers, so Champathong was receiving bets on the Euro 2008 games
and logging the results in the mentioned computer.
The police arrest involved not only arresting Champathong for his illegal sports
booking activities, but the police also confiscated the computer as evidence in
the case. There is no word yet if Champathong took bets previously for other
sporting events in the past, or if this was the first time. The operation was
run out of Pattaya, a costal Thai town.
