Revenue Still Growing
The land casinos have really had a tough year as gambling revenues are sinking
and more and more gamblers are staying home from the gambling venues as a way to
not only cutback on discretionary spending, but to also avoid the high price of
gas. Many analysts are theorizing that the land gamblers will increasingly turn
to the online casinos as a way to avoid rising gas prices, but the other
alternative might just bet the tribal casinos. Indian tribes all over the United
States are able to operate lucrative tribal gambling venues – and in some states
like California the casinos are located all over the states – meaning that there
is a pretty good chance that you have a land gambling venue within a short
driving distance of your house.
This just might be where all of the Las Vegas gamblers are heading since online
casino gambling is still hard to come by and is illegal at the federal level for
the gambling operators. The land tribes have reported that their gambling
revenues also fell last year as a result of the slowing economy, but every land
gambling region was still able to show a small increase over the previous year.
The National Indian Gaming Commission released the gambling and revenue
statistics for all of the tribes in the United States in 2007 – every region was
up on their 2006 revenues and gambling stats.
That is actually a significant figure – the online casino gambling sites may not
actually be taking as much of the Las Vegas gambling revenue as some predicted.
Instead the gamblers are sticking closer to home and picking the smaller tribal
gambling venues as a way to offset the costs of not only traveling to Vegas, but
also lodging and food. |
