The major poker professionals in the industry all have a sting of World Series of Poker bracelets and plenty of bragging rights – and now Phil Galfond also has the right to boast about his surprising win. Galfond represents the skill that can be found within the online casino gambling industry. Poker professionals use the online casinos as a way to sharpen their skills, but Galfond is a testament to the talent that can be honed right from the internet poker rooms. Galfond won event 28 of the WSOP and faced off against some of the top poker professionals in the world.

Event 28 was the 5 000 Pot-Limit Omaha with Re-buys competition and at the end of day one of the event the prize pool had reached $3 million. Galfond took home the lions share of the prize pool, walking with US $817,781 in winnings. Galfond goes by the screen name “OMGClayAiken” when gambling at the online casinos.

As for the other top notch players participating in Event 28 of the WSOP, the list of entrants reads like a “who’s who” list of prominent poker players. Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, Erick Seidel, Patrik Antonius, John Juanda, and Phil Ivey. All of these poker gamblers have won several previous WSOP bracelets, and Phil Ivey is very prominent in the online casino poker industry.

But all of that said, Galfond played a steady game of poker, and despite winning his first WSOP through Event 28, he remarks that he was never intimidated by the other land and online casino poker professionals that made up the 152 entry field of poker players. His steadfastness apparently worked though seeing as he is walking away from the event with upwards of $800,000 in winnings.
