Was it Neglected?
The new CEO of William Hill, Ralph Topping, is making some major changes at the
bookmaker. Will Hill has always traditionally operated in the land betting and
gaming industry – but with the blossoming of the online casinos industry, the
company is exploring new gaming options. Topping was previously the Internet
Director of the bookmaker, but was appointed as CEO after the company did an
exhaustive search. The appointment of Topping could actually make Will Hill a
major player in the UK online casino gambling and internet sportsbetting
industries. While Will Hill has seen declining revenues and player support for
the company’s current internet offerings, Topping’s experience in the online
gambling industry will surely mean that the company will soon thrive in
e-gambling activities.
Topping recently announced that the company’s new sportsbetting platform is
ready to launch – this is after a year of failed in-house development, Will Hill
decided to outsource the new gaming platform the Orbis online casino software
development company. The new internet offerings come right alongside Topping’s
appointment as CEO – no surprise there. Topping observed that that Will Hill
plans to really focus much of the company’s new development strategy on building
a strong presence in the casino gambling industry. A stronger Web presence and
quality gaming platform will go a long way toward making Will Hill competitive
against the other online casinos and internet bookmakers.
Topping commented on Will Hill’s lack of presence in the online casino gambling
industry and where the company is headed now. He notes, "There is a new sense of
direction. For too long, we regarded ourselves as bookmakers with a bolt-on
activity called gaming. There is a substantial opportunity for growth on the
Internet.” Beyond just launching the newly planned online sportsbetting
platform, Topping noted that the company is looking at potentially acquiring
other casino gambling companies in the coming years. |
