Germans Like to Online Casino Gamble
According to a recent research study on the prevalence of internet gambling in
Germany, German gamblers are heading to the online casinos in increasingly large
numbers. The Forsa research group released a study commissioned by ICT, and the
study’s results indicated that online gambling activities are higher than ever
before – and the numbers will continue to grow over the next couple of years.
The study’s report broke down just what types of internet gambling the German’s
prefer, betting is certainly popular, as is the state lotto. Coming up on the
rear though is the growing interest in gambling at the online casinos.
Germany is one of the dozen European Union member-states with strict
monopolistic gambling regulations. The German government as recently as January
implemented restrictive legislation that blocks foreign online casinos from
accessing German gamblers. But even with the regulations in place, German
gamblers are choosing to gamble through the internet in increasingly high
numbers.
According to the research study, roughly 2.2 million Germans head to the online
casinos for their some form of internet gambling. This number is certainly up
from past years. Also showing a sharp increase in the amount of profit in the
German gambling industry alone; Forsa’s study reports that the current casino
gambling market generates Euro 2.2 billion – this number is predicted to grow as
high as Euro 5 billion in just two years.
The study indicates that German online gamblers are primarily heading to the
internet sites for lotto – 700,000 Germans used the internet for the lotto. Next
up is betting 500,000 gamblers are reported to have headed to the internet
bookmakers to bet on both Bundesliga and football matches. Bringing up the rear
is internet casino poker – 430,000 German gamblers participated is this sector
of the internet gambling industry. |
