Entering New Frontiers

The International Game Technology (IGT) online gambling group has announced the acquisition Million-2-1 mobile gambling company. The acquisition of the mobile gambling company marks an important milestone for IGT – this is the company’s first move into the mobile online casino gambling industry. IGT has many other interests and partnerships in differing sectors of the internet gambling industry, but previously the only attachment to the emerging and lucrative mobile gambling industry was through a two-year partnership with Million-2-1.

Million-2-1 is based out of Manchester and has a strong foothold in the UK mobile online casino gambling industry. The company has benefited over the past two years by the partnership with IGT, but consolidation in the industry is common, and IGT was in the prime position to acquire Million-2-1 and further develop the mobile gambling brand. With the current boom in the online casinos industry, IGT’s strategy currently involves expansion into new sectors of the industry and new markets. The IGT Marketing Director, Robert White, observed, “IGT-UK is delighted to announce this acquisition, which, in conjunction with the recently announced Cyberview deal, marks a significant step forward in our strategy to develop new markets and new routes to market for our market-leading game content.”

The growing potential for expansion into remote online casino gambling markets was a main impetus for IGT’s acquisition of Million-2-1. With mobile gambling such a new medium (a bit more than a year since the internet casinos began to develop target content for mobile devices) more countries in the international industry are beginning to allow forms of mobile gambling or gaming. With an in-house mobile gambling arm, IGT is now in an ideal position for expansion.
