Florida Investigation into Online Casinos
The United States legislation banning forms of internet gambling in the country
has not stopped some creative operators from finding a way around the current
online casinos ban. In the Daytona Beach area (a very popular tourist
destination and home of Nascar races) the Police Department is looking into
several claims that the region of Florida is lousy with companies illegally
enabling online casino gambling. Just last month the a business was raided by
police for the very same reason, but despite the raid, many operators still try
to circumvent the federal legislation that bans offshore online gambling in
country.
Some of the illegal gambling operators are claiming that their businesses offer
a form of sweepstakes or lottery-type game rather than an actual online casinos
gambling site…but the police department just isn’t buying it. Some internet
gaming facilities are under questioning because of the way they are licensed.
The state of Florida allows licensed internet cafes, but the real question comes
down to what about the cafes that also provide a unstructured environment and
facilitate forms of online casino gaming.
The Volusia County police are alleging that some internet cafés are overstepping
their licensing privileges by operating forms of online gambling and gaming. The
police in some counties are finding resistance from the courts when it comes
down to issuing search warrants to some of the companies suspected of operating
online gambling sites. The courts allege that there is not enough evidence at
this point to justify a search warrant. |
