Online Casino Poker Scandal Still a Concern
Annie Duke is not only a well known international poker professional, she is
also affiliated with the UltimateBet online casino poker gambling site. Duke has
been associated with UltimateBet for a while now and is actually firmly standing
behind the company through what has to be one of the biggest scandals in the
history of the internet gambling industry. UltimateBet and its sister site
Absolute Poker were both involved in a cheating scandal that was uncovered first
by poker players, and then later investigated by the Kahnwake Gaming Commission
and Gaming Associates. Both companies were issued a fine at the resolution of
the cheating scandals and also reimbursed affected online casino poker gamblers.
Duke has strongly supported Ultimate Bet since the cheating scandal broke in
January, and though she admits that she had issue with the previous owners of
the two poker sites, the new management is apparently more transparent and has
given Duke a larger role in some of the company’s decision and planning. Tokwiro
Enterprises now owns UltimateBet and Absolute Poker, and CEO Paul Leggett headed
up the company’s investigation into the cheating scandal as well as damage
control in the media and efforts to right the wrongs with some of the affected
and disgruntled UltimateBet online poker players.
According to Poker News, Duke is completely on board with the company and plans
to continue endorsing the online casino poker gambling site. Poker News also
reported that Duke has confirmed that she was approached by the U.S.
investigative television news program, 60 Minutes, which is planning to run a
segment on the cheating scandals at both of Tokwiro’s internet poker sites. She
gave no further specific information on what she told the news program nor any
additional specific information regarding the details and investigation outcome
in the UltimateBet cheating scandal. |
