A Charitable Poker Experience
Land and online casino gamblers attending this year’s World Series of Poker
event in Las Vegas can make some slight adjustments to their plans and as a
result benefit the Nevada Cancer Institute (NVCI). The NVCI was named as the
official charity organization affiliated with the WSOP event, which means that
the organization will have a lounge set up near the poker tournaments. Players
at the land and online casinos can then visit the lounge and all proceeds will
benefit the NVCI.
The lounge will run throughout the WSOP events and offers players a slew of
choices – everything from food and drinks, massages, and even a game room where
players can unwind from the event, or hone their skills in preparation for their
next tournament. The lounge is called the “Ace’s Club,” and this will be the
third year that the WSOP named the NVCI as the events official charity.
Offerings in the lounge generally generate some healthy proceeds for the NVCI;
land and online casino players are willing to pay a bit more when they know it
is going to a charitable cause.
The CEO at the NVCI, Sandra Murdock, commented on they continued partnership
with the WSOP event (which draws thousands of land and online casino players
from all over the world). She notes, "We are thrilled to be a community partner
with the Harrah's organization, and are thankful for their dedication to the
health and future of the community." The NVCI uses all donations directly toward
research, education, and patient treatment. The Institute also employs some of
the top names in the cancer research industry to work toward a solution to the
surges in cancer in the past few decades.
