Wrapping Up and Collecting Winnings
The individual events of the World Series of Poker have now ended and all of the
excitement is focused on the Main Event in addition to the delayed Final Table
event occurring in November. The WSOP is made up of 55 smaller individual
events, all of which culminates in the Main Event, which brings out the top
international land and online casino poker gamblers. This is the event’s 39th
year running and by the looks of the television coverage and the enthusiasm of
the global poker industry this year’s event will prove just as lucrative and
exciting as past years.
Many top land and internet poker players have won seats to the WSOP Main Event
by gambling at specially designated tournaments at the online casinos. As is the
case in past events, there are some surprising newcomers to the poker pro
circuit who took home impressive winnings and some who even walked away with a
WSOP bracelet for their efforts. Also as expected though, the international
poker pros who frequently make headlines at the land and online casino poker
tables took home the lion’s share of the WSOP bracelets thus far.
While the Main Event is already drumming up excitement and fervor with the home
television views, some in the industry wonder if delaying the Final Table event
111 days could prove disastrous for the event’s viewership numbers. The Final
Table of the Main Event traditionally takes place shortly after the Main Event
has concluded and the excitement and buzz is still on high. But the online
casino and land poker enthusiasts may loose interest over the several month
delay – some argue that the viewership numbers show a sharp decrease over
previous years, and thus defeating the purpose of the move. |
