Tightening Up On Safety
Regulations, restrictions and standards in the European online casino gambling
industry are tightening thanks to a group effort between player advocacy groups
and the major association for internet gambling companies. eCOGRA and the
European Gaming and Betting Association and a variety of specialists developed a
new set of standards that are designed to work in tandem with strict licensing
criteria from the handful of gambling licensing jurisdictions. The EGBA has now
taken the standards a step forward by requiring all online casinos with a EGBA
membership to comply with the standards through an annual audit.
The development of the new set of standards was born out of an effort to ensure
maximum safety for international online casino gamblers. Licensing requirements
vary slightly from jurisdiction to jurisdiction and compliance with the newly
released standards is a way for internet gambling companies to ensure their
players that they practice the highest level of protection.
The annual compulsory audit of EGBA online casinos will be administered by
eCOGRA and will ensure that all gambling companies: have fair gaming practices,
are socially responsible, have anti-fraud safeguards in place for gamblers,
among other standards. eCOGRA is internationally recognized for the companies
superior auditing and high industry standards. The company’s “Fair and Safe”
seal is well respected and providers players with peace of mind that the online
gambling site is legitimate and that their bankroll is protected by the
company’s commitment to the industry.
As far as wide ranging application of the online casino gambling regulations are
concerned, the Chairman at the EGBA, Norbert Teufelberger noted that the new
standards “could serve as a basis for reflection at a time when governments and
regulators across Europe are trying to find ways to best protect consumers in
the online gaming and betting environment.” Player safety is a chief concern for
gambling companies all over the world. |
