Prepping for the DNC
The Obama campaign isn’t letting anything interfere with the excitement of the
upcoming Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado on August 28, 2008.
The Obama campaign has made a few notable blunders in the past few weeks, and
just last week he caught heat for running an illegal raffle in Minnesota. But
even that small glitch can’t stop Obama’s momentum in the U.S. – he even has the
backing of most of the U.S.’s online casino and poker gambling industries. Obama
is will make his acceptance speech at the DNC and at that point will announce
his running-mate and become the official presidential democratic nominee.
The small glitch related in Minnesota is has been fixed and Obama supporters all
over the U.S. now have the chance to win one of ten seats at the DNC and the
chance to meet Obama in person. The promotion is attracting Obama supporters
from all over – from online casino gamblers to housewives, many are eager to
meet the Democratic nominee. The promotion required individuals to make a
minimum $5 donation to Obama’s campaign in exchange for a chance to win one of
the ten seats to the convention.
The Minnesota government though has strict online casino gambling, raffle, and
sweepstakes regulations in place and the Obama promotion was deemed illegal in
the state because it classified as a raffle and political campaigns are not able
to hold raffles in the state. Although some have used this minor incident to
severely criticize the Obama campaign, the issue was quickly fixed and now
individuals are able to donate to the campaign without a minimum donation. |
